All academic activities, incl.exams must forge ahead methodically by next Dec. - Minister

Activities in the field of education such as conducting examinations, releasing results, distribution of textbooks and admitting students to universities need to be done in a time-driven manner by next December, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

While addressing the event held at the Ministry where M. Nihal Ranasinghe assumed duties as Education Ministry Secretary, the Minister said providing lunch for children in times of such economic hardship as well as rehabilitation of Pirivena Division should be done very systematically and expeditiously.

"The administrative structure of a country is structured according to a certain methodology and side effects arise when left out." Therefore, it is important to implement that administrative system in the Education Ministry in accordance with the formal procedures," he said.

The Minister stated that the system has been restored and that a gazette notification will be issued soon.

The ministry is faced with difficulties in issuing textbooks due to a paper shortage.

The minister added that we should prioritize and take immediate action to solve the issues that need immediate attention and relevant steps must be taken to solve the remaining issues accordingly. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
