Abandoned leopard cub recovered in Talawakelle
Weak cub brought in for treatment
A one-month old leopard cub found abandoned by its mother, was rescued by a group of estate workers in Talawakelle.
Despite their efforts to reunite the cub with the mother, the leopard was not keen to take the cub along with her.
Workers had then handed over the weak leopard cub to the Randenigala Veterinary Hospital.
The mother might have rejected the cub owing to the human scent after workers handled the young leopard, Randenigala Hospital’s Veterinarian Dr. Akalanaka Pindeniya said.
