29 TN Fishermen arrested by SL Navy
The Sri Lanka Navy arrested 29 Tamil Nadu fishermen and took into custody seven trawlers last night, Navy Spokesman Kosala Warankulasooriya said.The fishermen were arrested for allegedly fishing in the Sri Lankan territorial waters using prohibited fishing nets and have been taken to the Kankesanthurai Police station, officials said.
“They were arrested last night along with seven trawlers, and were taken to the Kankesanthurai Police, and have now been handed over to the Jaffna Fisheries and Aqautic Resources Department,” the Navy Official said. (JG)
