2.3kg of heroin seized at BIA; suspect arrested

BIA, Dec 14 (Daily Mirror) - A suspect has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) with 2.3 kilograms of heroin, police said.

The arrest was made by officers of the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotics Bureau during an inspection at the airport. According to police, the suspect had arrived in Sri Lanka from Malaysia.

The arrested individual is a 28-year-old resident of Rambukkana. Police stated that the narcotics were found in his possession upon arrival at the airport.

The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court and will be detained for further investigations, police added.
