15-Year-old girl missing from detention centre

Colombo, Jan. 29 (Daily Mirror) - The Kuliyapitiya Police are seeking public assistance to locate a 15-year-old girl who has gone missing from a government detention centre in Meegahakotuwa.

According to police, the girl, named W.F. Mayumi Prarthana, was initially taken into custody by the Chilaw Police on 14 July 2025 and admitted to the children’s home in the Chilaw area after being produced before the Chilaw Magistrate’s Court. She reportedly escaped from the home again on 17 July 2025.

The missing girl resides at No. 06, Henegedara, Udubaddawa. A photograph of her has been released to help the public identify her.
