14 injured in Fort bus accident

About 14 patients were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital following a bus accident in Colombo Fort this morning, the hospital sources said.

“Fourteen passengers were admitted to the hospital Accident Ward this morning. There are 11 men and three women among the injured,” Hospital Director for Accident and Orthopaedic Services Dr. Kapila Wickramanayake said.

One female patient has been discharged and no patients with fatal injuries were admitted, the doctor said.

However, the Police said more than ten were injured in the head-on collision of two the private buses at Ceramic Junction in Fort.

One was from Horana while the other was heading to Matara from Colombo, they said. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
