Parliament to be dissolved soon

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is to dissolve Parliament shortly and call for a General Election, Minister Maithripala Sirisena said. The term of the current Parliament ends in April this year. The government also said that it will begin preparing for the polls.

A group of four independent U.N. rights investigators have, in a report, noted that Sri Lanka was among dozens of countries where people were detained at secret locations and grilled to gather information. The report is to be discussed in March.
