Kandy Tuskers, Head Coach, Hashan Tillakaratne expressed his disappointment after his team lost to Jaffna Stallions in their Lanka Premier League (LPL) match at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota on Tuesday.
“It is very disappointing after winning the third game against the Galle Team we expected a lot from the boys. Our fielding and batting was far below standards,” the former Sri Lanka Captain told the Daily Mirror yesterday.
“We were wavered in our line in the second half of the Jaffna innings. We kept them under control in the first 10 overs giving only 50 runs. But in the end due to poor bowling we gifted around 135 runs,” he stressed.
“Thisara Perera played a brilliant knock which took the game away from us. He milked the ball beautifully and his shots showed the character of a very good batsman and a leader. But we bowled to his strengths, not to his weaknesses,” he added.
“We are still in with a chance for the semi-final berth. After yesterday’s rest we will bounce back with our second-round matches which commences today, with a game against Colombo.” “Had we batted the full quota of 20 overs we could have improved the net run-rate in the end which will be a yardstick if the teams are tied with equal number of points,” he concluded.
