Signature Stylish Marketer’ by University of Kelaniya takes world of fashion by storm

As the preferred youth brand for men’s fashion, Signature has embarked on a new venture in collaboration with the Marketing Division of the University of Kelaniya in order to promote the student-led annual fashion extravaganza, now titled  ‘Signature Stylish Marketer’. ‘Stylish Marketer’ is the annual fashion extravaganza organized by the Future Marketers Association, the official student association of the Department of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya.

The ‘Signature Stylish Marketer’ is a reality show in which young models and designers from all universities are eligible to participate in by completing a series of tasks before reaching the grand finale stage. During the exciting process of completing their tasks, Signature as a brand guided the contestants and provided the optimum support for them to make it through these tough tasks, for example, instructing them on power dressing. This platform helps contestants to gain valuable exposure. The local university students compete in this event to be crowned the ‘Signature Stylish Marketer’ of the year. Two winners are finally selected at the grand finale.

The winners at this edition of the Signature Stylish Marketer by University of Kelaniya were: 1st Place Male model category - Isanka Amaransinghe; 1st Place Female model category - Pavani Withanage; 1st Place Male designer category -  Priyanwada Adikari; and 1st Female designer category – Hansi Bulathgaha. 

Commenting on the partnership, the General Manager of Signature. Mr. Indika Perera said, “Signature is a brand that provides a total fashion solution for aspiring young men. The current exclusive fit that has been created for Signature Shirts and Trousers is highly preferred by the youth in Sri Lanka. As a result, the brand is perceived as a trend setter in the men’s wear fashion industry, as a brand, we have decided to guide and uplift the dressing sense of the youth in Sri Lanka, especially the current university students, and provide them with the confidence to face career challenges positively in future.”

Signature also showcased its latest fashion collections to the audience at the glamorous evening which were modelled by university students. The grand finale of the ‘Signature Stylish Marketer’ was held at the University of Kelaniya on 15th December 2016 in front of an audience of students from all the local universities to witness the talents of their respective candidates. 

The finale was witnessed by leading personalities in the fashion and beauty world. Fouzul Hameed, the Managing Director of Hameedia and Guest of Honour for the evening, expressed his views, “I was thoroughly impressed with ‘Signature Stylish Marketer’ and how it benefits the contestants. We saw some tremendous talent at the event and I commend Signature for providing them with this platform by sponsoring this annual event. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the University of Kelaniya for organizing such a beneficial event which uplifts young models and designers.”

Signature has pledged to support this event for the next 5 years as the main sponsor and will provide many benefits to the students. Although ‘Stylish Marketer’ has been held previously, this latest edition of the show underwent many dynamic changes due to its collaboration with the Signature brand. This momentous partnership has brought greater visibility to the event while enhancing its popularity.

Dr. Ajith - Head of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya, expressed his views: “The Signature Stylish Marketer Annual Fashion Show organized by the student body was extremely successful. Amongst all the sponsors, I personally admire the value created by the team from Signature in order to uplift the student’s morale - by not only guiding them, but also being the event’s platinum sponsor.”
