Though the World Health Organisation (WHO) has donated 100,000 Antigen test kits, the Health Ministry would continue to conduct PCR tests as PCR tests are more reliable and accurate, Co-Cabinet spokesman, Plantation Minister Ramesh Pathirana said. Flatly dismissing the Opposition’s claim that the Government has failed to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic, Minister Pathirana said Sri Lanka was still in the forefront among many other countries to successfully control the pandemic and added no one must try to belittle the efforts taken by the Government, Health Ministry, our health staff and the armed forces to keep the pandemic under control . Minister Pathirana said that Sri Lanka had been able to keep the number of infections and deaths to the minimum possible as we have an extremely dedicated health staff supported by the armed forces.
“The Government has done everything possible to keep the pandemic under control and we have set up special wards in State hospitals round the country with ICU facilities.
