An exquisite choral presentation organised by the Sri Lanka Bharatha Cultural Fellowship to mark the culmination of this year’s season of Lent will be held on March 20 at St. Philip Neri’s Church, Colombo 11, at 6.30 pm. The event will be presided over by Rev. Fr. G. Nesen, SSS.
Francis de almeida directs the choral presentation |
Directed by Francis de Almeida, ‘Lauda Jerusalem’ (Oh! Praise Jerusalem) will include more than 30 of Sri Lanka’s talented singers and musicians.
The first part will comprise reflections and choral music commemorating Christ’s defiant entry into Jerusalem, His last supper, betrayal, His journey to Calvary and the death on the Cross, while the second part will be the sung Eucharistic Celebration which will include chants and hymns in four languages. The organisers of the event intend to bring the talent of young Bharatha singers to the fore and to draw together the members of their community in intimate fellowship.
Members of the Bharatha community and others are cordially invited to participate and be much inspired.
