Dogs are called man’s best friend because they are loyal, sincere, loving and give  unconditional love.Today this has been developed to training at a new level as service dogs  and there are amazing canine heroes and heroines. They are used for autism therapy, specifically trained to help those with autism, giving them an anchor in overwhelming situations and provide an emotional connection. They have been trained to assist those suffering from post traumatic stress disorder; helping them to adjust to a daily routine after trauma. They train dogs to help people with mobility issues to perform everyday tasks for them. The best known of service dogs are ‘the seeing eye dogs’. These are taught to be a person’s eyes, leading them round and through everyday obstacles. They are taught impeccable manners and go everywhere with their handlers.A new type of service dogs are highly skilled and trained to sense a seizure and alert their handler to take precautions. These include diabetic detection dogs who are trained to sniff the air to detect a drop in blood sugar levels on someone’s breath;service dogs for  the hearing impaired, whose owners depend on them to be their ears and watch them for reactions to sounds.Dogs are also trained to deal with the mentally ill and for therapy to offer comfort.
