The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will neither form any joint-governments with the UNP nor support Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa’s Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), SLFP General Secretary and State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara said.
While rejecting the claims made by the Opposition leader regarding the invitation made to the SLFPers to join the SJB, the Minister Jayasekera told Mr. Premadasa to solve their internal issues before contesting the parliamentary election and not to use SLFP as cat's paw.
"As SLFP, we took the most relevant decision regarding the country at the recent Presidential election by toppling the Ranil Wickremesinghe Government. We defeated the Sajith Premadasa campaign and won the election by 1.4 million votes," he said.
Addressing the media at the SLFP Head Quarters today he said the SLFP will never going to make any joint governments with the UNP or to support any UNP leader or to roll back the SLFP again.
The decision was taken considering the ideas of the Former President Maithripala Sirisena, following the discussion at the Central Committee meetings, discussions at the political meetings, and SLFP organisers.
"The SLFP was destroyed after joining the UNP and it was a huge mistake that was committed by us in history and the SLFP is not going to repeat the same fault, never again," Mr. Jayasekara said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
