Actress-turned politician Geetha Kumarasinghe today made an appeal to the President to grant presidential pardon to former MP Ranjan Ramanayake who is imprisoned for contempt of court.
Kumarasinghe told parliament that she was making a humble appeal to the President to grant presidential pardon to her fellow artiste Ranjan Ramanayake if possible.
“I am not making this appeal for any political concerns. I make this appeal to grant the presidential pardon to my one-time silver screen colleague and artiste Ranjan Ramanayake for the sake of the cinema industry,” she said. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
