Former MP Mohamed Maharoof and another suspect, who were arrested for allegedly misusing vehicles belonging to Lanka Sathosa, were remanded till tomorrow by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.

They were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday.

Sounds like a petty issue. Do you need to put someone behind bars for these petty issues specifically when remands are overcrowded and with full of people infected with corona. If we have to arrest and remand everyone misusing the public vehicles then we need to build additional remands and prisons because everyone does it.
