COVID-19 virus which remains in the bodies of those who succumb to the disease could contaminate the freezers where the bodies were kept, former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said at a meeting he had with the health officials recently.
Sources close to Mr Wickremesinghe said it was highlighted at this meeting that freezers in hospitals were of no use if the bodies of those who succumb to COVID-19 were kept in them for long periods.
Mr Wickremesinghe, therefore, said that the government should either cremate or bury the bodies of those who succumbed to the disease as soon as possible. (Yohan Perera)
