Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) have not yet decided whether to support the United National Front at the upcoming General Elections or not.
A spokesperson of the TNA said that in order for any main party to secure majority power in the Parliament, the support of the TNA would be important.
He also said that the party was studying the reactions of the government to his party’s demands, their conduct and the conduct of the Opposition before taking a decision on its support to any major party.
Steps would be taken to contest at the upcoming General Elections as an independent party while preserving the identity of the TNA and to expand the party among estate workers, he added.
General Secretary of the SLMC Nizam Kariapper said that even though the SLMC has intended to support an alliance under the leadership of Sajith Premadasa, the party has not taken a final decision yet.
