The main suspect wanted over the suicide bomb attack at Zion Church in Batticaloa on Easter Sunday, has been arrested by the CID, Police Spokesman Jaliya Senaratna said yesterday.  

He said the suspect who is a resident of Mount Lavinia, has been identified as the handler of the suicide bomber on the Zion Church.  


“The CID is also investigating to determine whether there were any others who have maintained connections with the arrested suspect,” he said.  


The Spokesman said according to the initial investigations, the suspect alleged to have handled the suicide bomber who attacked the Kochchikade Church in Colombo.  


SP Senaratna said the suspect would be detained for further questioning.  


The Spokesman said that 31 suspects arrested over the Easter Sunday attacks are being detained by the CID while 60 suspects are in the TID custody.  

 

The CID is also investigating to determine whether there were any others who have maintained connections with the arrested suspect
