A father and two daughters had been killed in a tragedy after the family of four was dragged by strong currents of Kirinda Sea off Yala last morning, the Police said.

They said the victims were residents of Nuwara Eliya who were touring the area.

The man (38), his wife and the two daughters – aged four and seven- were rescued from the current and were rushed to the Kirinda and Debarawewa Hospitals, however, the man and one daughter were pronounced dead on admission.

The wife and the other daughter, who were in critical condition, were at the Intensive Care Unit of the Debarawewa Hospital where the second daughter succumbed to her injuries.
The 33-year-old mother had been transferred to the Ampara Hospital for further treatment.
