The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate that some lawyers who were practising Islamic extremism had obtained affidavits from 14 students who had provided statements to the CID earlier on the training they received at Madrasa schools.
When the case was taken up before the Colombo Chief Magistrate, the CID informed that these lawyers had obtained affidavits from 14 students not to provide details of the training they received at Madrasa schools.
Earlier, the CID had obtained statements from 16 students who received training at Madrasa schools.
Meanwhile, two students had provided a secret statement to the Magistrate in the chamber.
Earlier, their parents had requested the Magistrate to obtain a secret statement from their children about the training they received at Madrasa schools.
