SriLankan Airlines recently partnered with ‘TrailSL’ in aid of raising US$ 5 million to build a cancer treatment facility in Galle as an extension of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
Their contribution to this cause was not merely via a corporate donation, but with active participation, championed by CEO Suren Ratwatte who has recorded over 120km towards the cause.
As the Colombo leg drew to culmination at the Galle Face Green, SriLankan Airlines staff in the presence of Ajith Dias – Chairman and Suren Ratwatte – CEO hosted the walkers to refreshments outside their headquarters at the World Trade Center. Key trail blazers included co-founders Sarinda Unamboowe and Nathan Sivagananathan along Mahela and Christina Jayawardena and race contestant Nadiya Anderson.
SriLankan Airlines team members participated in fundraising by walking different legs of the race along with over 2300 other participants. By the end of the walk across the country, 500 SriLankan Airlines Staff would have actively participated in supporting the cause by raising Rs. 1 million by cumulatively recording over 15000km.
