Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd, a unit of India’s Aditya Birla Group and Singapore-based Agricultural Resources and Investments (Pvt) Ltd.have secured tenders to supply chemical fertilizer to the Ceylon Fertilizer Company (Lak Pohora) Limited and Colombo Commercial Fertilizer Limited for the up-coming Yala season.
On Monday, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a proposal submitted by Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage to award the relevant tenders to the two companies,
Government awards based on recommendations of the Standing Committee on Procurement appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers, after evaluating bids.
Combined value of the three tenders is approximately US$ 20 million.
Accordingly, the tender to procure 40,500 MTof Urea (granular) at US$ 343.10 per MT, under 270-day loan period was awarded to the Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd.
The company also secured the tender to procure 8,500 MT of Urea (prilled) at US$364.74 per MT under 180-day loan facility.
Meanwhile, Agricultural Resources and Investments (Pvt) Ltd secured the tender to supply 13,900 MT of urea (muriate of potash) at US $258.74 per MT under 180-day loan facility.
