Police said at least six residents and four policemen were injured following a clash between police and people living in the Yahalkale Estate in Moragahahena, Horana last night.

Earlier that evening   following information received, the Moragahahena police arrested a man from the Yahalkale estate over the alleged sexual assault of a six-year-old boy.

Later that evening police had entered the area again following information on receipt of information regarding a clash between supporters of the suspect and relatives of the victim.

Residents said the police were under the influence of liquor and when they attempted to intervene a clash broke out. Residents claimed the policemen who were under the influence of liquor attacked them.

Later when the ASP of the area arrived at the scene, he found four policemen were under the influence of liquor and ordered them interdicted. (Buddhika Kumarasiri)

Just the other day, it was the prisoners and now the villagers attacking the Police. Law and order in this country is nowhere to be seen after the lawless elements took over governing the country.
