The Central Bank of Sri Lanka is doing such a lousy job in enhancing security of online channels for banking and credit cards. I am Sri Lankan working in the banking sector overseas and I was stunned to learn that account holders back home log into their bank accounts online without even the basic SMS authentication (OTP) and other procedures. There are many things CBSL and the government can do to to drive policy and convergence in the banking industry. Sadly they are busy trying to paint a rosy picture and deceive the public with their dubious figures and statements.

There is a risk in any thing the need is to take necessary precautions. Not using the technology is not the solution. In a decade from now high street banks will be a thing of the past.
ATM and cash deposit machines and online fund transfer would be standard banking practice.
