The U.N. special envoy on human rights of internally displaced persons arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday to examine the status of people rendered homeless by the country’s three-decade civil war.

Chaloka Beyani, Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons, said he intended to meet all stakeholders during his five-day visit.

“I will gather first-hand information from all parties, including displaced persons and affected communities themselves,” he said.

“I will also look at the challenges and opportunities for durable solutions for IDPs, while I discuss the progress made with regard to their protection and assistance.”

He will visit the former war-torn districts of Jaffna and Mullaitivu in the Tamil-dominated north. Mr. Beyani will meet representatives from the government, civil society and the U.N. He will present preliminary observations through a written statement shortly after the end of his mission while a full report will be presented to the U.N. Human Rights Council in June 2014. How lunatic one can be. US suffering from period schizophrenia sending their men to find out IDP situation here is utter joke. How about going to Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria where millions and millions are internally displaced even without their love ones. Is this world running on its head? Who is trying to deceive who?

Another one to find facts! What will he report now? More of the same I guess with the hidden agenda and retain his job. Why are we letting these people in I wonder?

Well, one would have thought that our heroic and brave leaders never agreed to any UN interventions. How come this person is here to "examine": is it part of an "international conspiracy"?

Your leaders can only shout in public and in front of media and when UN urges in backdoor, they bow down.

He is an U.N envoy and not of U.S. Remember Sri Lanka is a member of U.N.

Your people can only cry when there is an international audience otherwise they live happily with the majority.
