Since 6th of June Non -Academic staff of Universities are on strike. It is not an issue with the University Grants Commission. Junaid of the Salaries Commission has requested them to go back to work to start discussions. Instead of going back to work and starting discussions they are having protest marches to inconvenience the public and to paralyse the university system of Sri Lanka. The dates for payment of wages are also nearing and if the Non Academic staff is on strike preparation and payment of salaries also should be hampered. For the past eleven days undergraduates of first two years of the Colombo Medical Faculty did not have a single lecture but we are sure the learned Doctors and Professors will be credited with their full salary for their vacation.
