The Ministry of External Affairs will soon remove the Travel Advisory on Tamil Nadu after a proactive response to discussions between the Sri Lankan government and the Indian Central government, sources told Daily Mirror.

“The Indian central government has given a number of assurances to the Sri Lankan government that any civilian or VIP travelling to Tamil Nadu will be given complete security and that there is no need for concern. Therefore there are discussions within the Ministry to remove the travel warning as soon as possible,” the source said.

The final decision on the matter is to be taken by the Minister of External Affairs G.L Peiris and Ministry Secretary Karunatileke Amunugama who have both been out of the country for the past few days.  (Dianne Silva)

Even after the eradication of the LTTE menace, the British Givt has NOT removed the travel warning on SL. Wonder why SL is in such a hurry to remove the travel warning it issued against Tamil Nadu and not India as a whole. Are the lives of SL citizens of less value for the Ministry of External affairs to just hold discussions and agree to remove the warning just coz India pressurizes....?

why do you pay and get assaulted.....refrain from going unless it is absolutely necessary....if you have excess money give it to a poor person.... you will certainly feel better than travelling to that smelly place and getting pelted with stones !!!!!

Assurance from Tamil Nadu? Wow, nice basis to lift the travel ban.

There are other places where we can visit other than tamilnadu.... even if the lift it, people shouldn't visit tamilnadu..

As Sri Lankan's some have ties with people living their... BUT still don't remove the Travel Advisory just yet.. even if something happens in the future.. They in India will not take SL Govt's action seriously... so keep the advisory..for a few months..

The recent travel warning by the Brit Govt. is not becasue of the LTTE.It is because of the violance by the southern criminals.

It is silly for Sri Lanka to remove the travel advisory within such short spell of time even before South Indian Tamil Nadu government has not condemned the attacks on Sri Lankans and no investigation has been announced to catch the culprits. If the travel advisory is removed, Sri Lanka government's ignorance will be demonstrated to the world and its own community.

Good and Sri Lankans visiting Tamil Nadu will be attacked again.

Your general remark and classifies Southerners as criminals. By the same token are all the Northerners terrorists?
