The polling agents of the political parties and independent groups will be permitted to paste a sticker inside the ballot boxes at the time of sealing it at the polling station in order to avoid allegations of poll rigging.

Assistant Elections Commissioner Trincomalee M.M.Nishantha Dinipriya said the polling agents should paste the sticker when the empty ballot boxes are sealed and handover a specimen of the sticker.

Assistant Elections Commissioner said the polling agents at the counting centers will be allowed to check the stickers belonging to their political party when the ballot boxes are opened.

    Friday, 02 April 2010 01:52 PM

Our ballot boxes looke so clumsy compared to the neat plastic boxes used in other countries

    Friday, 02 April 2010 02:23 PM

Vwery constructive! infact we are not sure how many boxes are already filled and sticker attached and ready for take off!

    Friday, 02 April 2010 02:24 PM

They put those stickers on EC mouth at temple trees!

    Friday, 02 April 2010 02:26 PM

Members of ONE political party will travel for SURE!

    Friday, 02 April 2010 08:08 PM

This move will prevent claims that 'they lost because genuine ballot boxes, whilst in transit to counting centres, were replaced with bogus ones'!

    Friday, 02 April 2010 10:14 PM

EC will declare a 'FREE AND FAIR ELECTION' ... What a first class joke!

    Friday, 02 April 2010 11:54 PM

The EC, 'trying' to show that he is 'trying hard' to have a clean election.

    Friday, 02 April 2010 09:20 AM

It is good to have some control to check those unscrupulous who try to steal the public opinion on their favour but if the government is not sincere to follow the rule of law all the controls that are employed to restrict poll rigging will be exploited to its favour. Nothing is good enough without the independant commissions empowered.

    Friday, 02 April 2010 09:24 AM

Its the computers also that need checking for false entries and data changes.

    Friday, 02 April 2010 09:32 AM

Who knows after elections they may not complain that it was forged and in no time it was duplicated?

    Friday, 02 April 2010 09:54 AM

You mean..polling agents of the ruling party?? for,the opposition's agents would be kicked out of the booths!!

    Friday, 02 April 2010 09:55 AM

Stickers or no stickers, there will still be poll rigging and there is nothing anyone can do about but accept the fact that elections will NEVER BE FREE AND FAIR.

    Friday, 02 April 2010 09:58 AM

What happened to the Stickers that were used at the Presidental Election?

    Friday, 02 April 2010 10:00 AM

Put a Security Guard in to the Box !.

    Friday, 02 April 2010 10:01 AM

Printing a sticker quickly is not very difficult !.

    Friday, 02 April 2010 10:06 AM

These stickers are designed to fall off after few hours.

    Friday, 02 April 2010 10:08 AM

MEMBER OF POLITICAL PARTY SHOULD TRAVEL IN THE BUS WITH BALLOT BBOXES AFTER SEALED.

    Friday, 02 April 2010 10:43 AM

Yes, still they compalining. I think not one, put 100 stickers. Atleast then they will stop talk rubish.

    Friday, 02 April 2010 10:45 AM

This stickers are designed not by the government, but by separate political parties. Don't talk without knowing.

    Friday, 02 April 2010 10:45 AM
