A total of 285 prisoners, including six women, had been released from prisons across the country today in view of the 2nd anniversary of President’s Maithripala Sirisena’s swearing in as President, Prisons Department said today.
Prisons Spokesman T.N. Upuldeniya said prisoners who had been convicted for minor offences under the Penal Code had been granted Presidential Pardon.
He said inmates jailed for minor offences including those who were jailed for not being able to pay fines had also been released. (Darshana Sanjeewa)

SL is a very dangerous country to live, you may be a prisoner in any uncertain period as a result of primitive and aggressive judicial system.
