By Gandhya Senanayake The former Army Commander will not bend down and ask for forgiveness from the President as he is innocent and this is nothing but a revengeful act against MP Sarath Fonseka, DNA General Secretary MP Vijitha Herath told Daily Mirror online.
Further responding to the media report that the President might reconsider the decision given by the second Court Martial if MP Sarath Fonseka makes a request, MP Herath added that this was exactly what the government wanted and that Sarath Fonseka will not ask for forgiveness as he was innocent and the public knew this.
He added that public support island wide for the release of Fonseka will be mustered and that Fonseka and he will be freed by a civilian Court.
The former Army Chief was transferred to the Welikada Prison on September 30th after the President ratified the 30 month rigorous imprisonment which was recommended by the second Court Martial. (Daily Mirror online)
