I see this a good start.... if the trend continues.... of RESIGNING on allegations

No point of rolling the head of CPC. The minister should resign first. He has showed that he is incapable to handle CPC. But still he wants to hang on like "Kudella" to suck the blood of the people. Mr.Minister please go. You have been elected by people to serve the people. But you have shown utter disregard to the choice of the people. If you have an iota of decency you should get out forthwith. Please get out. Go. Go.Go

Problem in this country is the appointment of unsuitable people to top posts. How does a telecom expert handle petroleum matters? Aren't we have experts for these posts ? Clear insult to intelligentsia.

Government has adopted a hire and fire policy. We could expect more fires in future because lack of professionals in government owned institutions.

No inquiry and punish the culprits? Only appointing a chairman and new board?

They should not allow to to go just like that. Their assests and their reletive assets have to be verified by a bribery commission. They should prove they are clean.

For heavans sake dont ask the Minister to resign.
If every time a minister resigns for their blunders,
hardly any Minister will be left in the Cabinet.

TM Lal Friday, 10 August 2012 10:36 AM

Exactly. This clearly is only an attempt of diverting the public attention.

So, no accountability, no responsibility, they would shit and leave and others would clean up after? Not that the new ones would do any better.. Look at Sri Lankan Cricket..... When the would cricket boards do well with the solid income, Sri Lanka with high ranked cricketers beg around. Any number of changes would not fix the problem! Everyone wants to make a buck. Those in power are no better. Wonder of Asia, eh?

In Sri Lankan scenario appointment of Chairmen and Board of Directors are purely on political grounds which should be changed as per the developed countries otherwise there wouldn't be any stop to keep on appointing such officials in the same place over and over again.Likewise whenever the next stock of inferior quality of fuel arrives this director board too is to be changed. In this country is there a scarcity of perfect directors who can work error freely.

    Nodrog Friday, 10 August 2012 06:57 AM

Good choice but will they be able to act independently without political interference which has been the bane of CPC and the curse of the country by losing millions each year?

Calistus Jayatilleke Friday, 10 August 2012 09:11 AM

Typical lop-sided action to hoodwink the people. Directors and officials asked to resign (and will be given new appointments elsewhere) and new directors brought in (to continue the same activities) and the Minister who is the political boss elected by the peopele to take care of the subject is not responsible and not accountable to anyone. King Kekille is still very much alive.

    minister should resign first

    Ram Friday, 10 August 2012 08:24 AM

Well said . Minister should take over full responsibility and pave way to a sincere and genuine minister, if any.

Same bus with New Wheels,Change the Minister

buffaloa citizen Friday, 10 August 2012 08:23 AM

Again throwing sand in the eyes of the public. The Minister is the biggest culprit who needs to resign with the Chairman and Board.

super shot Friday, 10 August 2012 07:45 AM

only resign? no action against them? They will get new appointments - wait and see !

    rarajiv d Friday, 10 August 2012 07:32 AM

No point putting the blame on the board it is the minister Premjayantha who should resign as all this comes under his perview. No decision can be taken without the approval of the Minister and it is he who put it to the cabinet for endorsment.

Just Another Citizen Friday, 10 August 2012 07:25 AM

Lets keep our fingers crossed that this will work & the public doesn't have to incur losses.
