Sarath Manamendra released

Leader of the Nava Sihala Urumaya Sarath Manamendra was released a short while ago after parties involved in the dispute resolved the matter amicably, police spokesman SP Preshantha Jayakody told Daily Mirror online.

Sarath Manamendra was taken into custody by the Welikada police for threatening two persons with a pistol.Reportedly a trishaw driver had attempted to rob Manamendra with an accomplice when he threatened the two persons by pointing the pistol at them and firing a shot into the air.

This morning Manamendra had taken them to the Welikada police where all of them were subsequently arrested by the police. (GS)

    Can the police settle these cases "amicably" ? one has attempted to rob a person and the other party used a firearm to threaten.Can somebody explain the legal aspects?

    Apparently Mr Manamendra did NOT do any sort of weapon power misused in this scenario.
    Actually he tried to save his life from a robber how tried to rob him.
