In ancient times, even in the time of King Brahmadatta, the oriental culture treated the Nagara Sobhinis with honour and respect.
Shame on you, the followers of Western Victorian values, for not appreciating the services rendered to the Sri Lankan community at large, by yhese Nagara Sobhinis. It is unfortunate that women who provide such immense service to society, are treated like criminals, in the hands schemeing, unethical politicians, fundamentalist clergy and uneducated nationalists..

well well, what about the poor underaged girls who have been pulled into this so-called profession? will you allow your daughter to do it? Should we allow anything just for its being an ancient practice? On the same note, I dare to ask you what's wrong with bestiality, incest then? civilization is the word that you should read about more.

Only the Islamic rule would stop these types of acts [prevailing like in Saudi].
Saudi is the best example, less number of rapes in any year and the worst in US.
Simply think if anyone rapes any one of our relation, what would we do??
This is one of the biggest threats to the world not only for SL.
I am not insisting that Sudies are good people [no they are NOT], but still these law's keep them under control, since they know the punishment
Basically human beings are created with the weakness to do mistakes, hence there should be policy procedures preventing him from doing major mistakes. That’s why there are police/army forces for each country.
Further, these laws and regulations have lots week points because it is created by Human being who have already had a weakness of doing wrong things
