They are trying to create some novelty out of this event but this is not something entirely new. During the presidency of Premadasa there used to be an annual football match between parliamentarians and municipal councilors at the parliament grounds during sinhala & tamil new year time. At that time, however, no roads were closed nor were the general public inconvenienced

Why close the road? Is it so that the Taffic Police can charge so many vehicles with "Garage" number plates at one place?
