I am like our President. He works for the country, overcoming all difficulties and obstacles. I am not afraid of my rivals. I will continue to work like King Parakkramabahu the Great, Minister Mervyn Silva said.

Speaking at an event in Kelaniya, the minister also said, “no one can say I am idle and silent. I am active. I am with the people not only of Kelaniya but of the entire Gampha district. It is my duty to serve the people who voted for me,” he said.

"I am aware of the difficulties people are facing. I am also aware of the illegal reclamation of lands without authority, he said.

"Five people loyal to me keep me informed of the corruption and frauds in the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha. I will take necessary action at the right time," he said.

“People come after me without a break because they know I understand their problems well-like a senior doctor is able to diagnose his patients' ailments despite his age- he added.(Lal S Kumara)
