Heavy showers will continue – Met. Dept.

Heavy rains accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds will continue to prevail in the next few days, the Department of Meteorology warned today. The highest rainfall of 172mm was reported from Malimboda while some areas in Ratnapura received a rainfall of 114.5mm today.

The department advised the public to take precautions against lightning by avoiding telephone conversations in open areas and unplugging electric appliances in homes and offices. (Yohan Perera and Sanath Desmond)
