the rain storm water system is completely out. the administrator needs to re-lay at the cost of the tax payer similar to one in Singapore. It is so disgusting even to note the surronding of beira lake flooded. A basic IQ will do to send the water to beira lake in seconds. But we have arm chair admins and engineers. Very soon Bamba to Kollupitiya will go under water.

    Neomal Monday, 29 November 2010 02:33 PM

Floods are good for Colombo. Don't you understand? That is why the Govt. is doing nothing about it.

    sw Monday, 29 November 2010 02:46 PM

GOSL is only interested in Mega Projects. Flood control in Colombo dos not fit into the picture.

Jim Dougal Monday, 29 November 2010 03:04 PM

Does Singapore ever flood like this?

Api Walata! Monday, 29 November 2010 03:47 PM

Where is the Police Environment Unit?????

    M.FAAKIR A.LATIFF Tuesday, 30 November 2010 01:43 PM

We need to study the pattern of floods and plan for a long term solution - keeping in mind an undergrond metro/subway for the colombo city. Also diverting flood water to beira lake too will ease the problem, later the lake could be made as a source of income for the gov-transport and tourism.
But we need patriot ministers with practical thinking and brains as how to start and complete it with available resourses. GOSL should put horses for the courses!

    josh Monday, 29 November 2010 04:12 PM

it rained only half an hour near my institute and the road in front was flooded with 1 feet of water!!! WOW!!

    Suri Tuesday, 30 November 2010 02:19 PM

mmm.. what a mess .. we are all in the same boat .. do you think we can help out a bit by getting to know our neighbors more.. wonder if they need help?

    TY Tuesday, 30 November 2010 08:12 AM

We experience thse floods every now and then. If one notices the size of their drainage system, it must be 05 times bigger than what we have dude. So the flow to Indian Ocean is more rapid than in reclaimed Singapore. It could have been fun had the floods lashed the parliament during a parliament session. All sins would have got washed offed

Ossan Salam - Doha Tuesday, 30 November 2010 08:17 AM

Suppose if we have no any immediate solution for this temporary lakes in Colombo, the speed boat services must be launched in furure by SLTB

    realitytt Monday, 29 November 2010 08:10 PM

yes. they did have very bad floods about 20 decades ago. But their vision and plan helped them to solve the problem. But nothing can beat mother nature, still they get quick flash floods in few part of the country.

    MR 1/2/3 Monday, 29 November 2010 08:21 PM

The sins done by uneducated politicians like JVP thugs cannot be washed out easily , so the weather gods trying their best to wash out them in a series.

    BLACK_PEPPER Monday, 29 November 2010 11:39 PM

yes.. it happened twice in this year..... tropical weather dude.. sri lanka and singapore cannot escape it.

Ross Milan Monday, 29 November 2010 11:40 PM

We have a fleet of ministers now. Surely they can see to it.

pissu balla Tuesday, 30 November 2010 01:47 AM

Come on we all together fix this problem, as a single nation!

    Nelam Wednesday, 01 December 2010 02:48 AM

Rain is a blessing from God.Too much of it is a sign of testing faith. The same way power is a blessing and too much of it also brings disaster when abused..

Afker Hussain Tuesday, 30 November 2010 10:46 AM

Singapore does not have any floods as they have planned there city to good effect and they are the least corrupt country .
