Call to strengthen Pak-SL defence ties

Pakistan today stressed the importance of having a mechanism to further strengthen defence ties between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Visiting Pakistan Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani made this comment during a meeting with Prime Minister D.M.Jayaratne in Colombo today.

The Prime Minister’s office in a statement quoting General Kayanai as saying that as Pakistan was a country which helped Sri Lanka to fight against the terrorism, the time had come to further strength the economic ties between the two nations as well.
