The laboratory technologists at the Kaluthara Hospital today threatened to go on strike if the Health Ministry did not provide them with the necessary facilities for the lab.

The laboratory which is considered to be the best in the country at the moment has not received the necessary equipment and drugs the Association of Government Medical Laboratory Technologists (AGMLT) said.

“The equipment and drugs brought for the lab have not been received by the lab and some of the tests have to be done from other laboratories,” the Union said. (NH)

Yes We Can! Take the whole lot on a all expenses paid jaunt to visit some labs in foreign countries. That is the correct way in Sri Lanka.

1. How can we call this the best in the country ? To be best in the country, it should be serving the country well.
2. Is it correct for the staff to go on strike due lack of facilities? Won't that make things worse ? No facilities and no staff also.

actually this issue was highlighted because the staff went on a strike. i think its commendable that for once in this country, people went on a strike for something other than filling their own pockets
