Bahu to contest Dehiwela-Mount MC

New Left Front Leader Dr. Wickramabahu Karunaratne is to contest for the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council from the Democratic Peoples Front (DPF) led by Mano Ganesan as its mayoral candidate, DPF sources said today.

DPF General Secretary Dr. A. N. Kumaraguruparan told the Daily Mirror that several members of the spectacle group which won the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) would also be contesting under his party’s ticket. He said their candidature would be finalised in the days to come.

He said some TNA MPs were also expected to back the DPF and participate in the campaigns in Colombo. Dr. Kumaraguruparan said the TNA was expected to give moral support to the DPF at the upcoming election.

However TNA spokesman Suresh Premachnadran said the party had not yet decided to back anyone at the ucoming local government election. (YP)

Why contest Dehiwala - Mount MC ? With a bigger vote base in Wellawatta and Kotahena, you will stand a better chance of retaining your deposit money if you would contest for Colombo MC.
