Australia beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets at the first One Day International held in Pallekele today. The Australians after being beaten comprehensively during the T20 matches were boosted by the presence of former Skipper Ricky Ponting who made 53 runs and regular ODI captain Michael Clarke who also made an unbeaten 53.

Fast bowler Mitchel Johnson claimed 6 Sri Lankan wickets for 31 runs. Earlier in the day the Lankans recovered from a top order collapse to make 191 runs.
