Army rescue contingents fly to Nepal

The first segment of the emergency rescue and relief contingent comprising of 44 Army personnel and 4 Civil Medical Consultants left for earthquake-struck Nepal this morning, the Army media said.

The army personnel will assist ongoing rescue and relief operations in the densely-populated Kathmandu valley, devastated by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake which has reportedly claimed at least 1,400 lives.

Another team comprising of 156 rescuers, including 14 sailors, 11 airmen and 4 Civil Medical Consultants, are expected to leave for Nepal soon, the Army said.

    Once Again little Sri Lanka comes forward to help the victimes of earthquake in Nepal.While there is total silence in the western world including Obama ,who is joking and laughing on his his annual dinner party,our Punchi Lanka is all out to help this poor nepalees people. Of course Nepal and Sri Lanka born from Bouddhisme religion and culture.West has to learn a lot from Sri Lanka.

    I agree with you that we are a small nation helping Nepal, which is great. But do not be an idiot and say the west is not doing anything. Every country on earth regardless of political differences is doing something. They have all sent either money, rescue teams, supplies or all of the above. So do not talk shit when there is clear evidence to the contrary. You can make yourself look like an idiot, but please do not talk for all of us and make us all look bad.
