Six people, including two brides, have been hospitalized due to an allergy during a bridal dressing at a beauty parlour in Mirigama this evening, Police said.

It has been revealed that the owner of the beauty salon, three employees and two brides who were being dressed for the homecoming ceremony have fainted and later hospitalized.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident had taken place when the premises suffered a power failure and the power supply was restored with the help of a generator.

A spokesman for the office of the Mirigama Medical Officer of Health said it was suspected that the allergy could have been caused due to the combination of smoke from the generator and the emission from the A/C as well as various types of chemical properties in the cosmetics that were being used in bridal dressing and other make up. It's not Allergy. It's call carbon monoxide poisoning!

That's because you assume it's carbon monoxide. But there are other gasses involved when air-conditioning leaks happen. And these could cause various other issues. Hence the medical specialists have used the word allergy. It's rather presumptuous to think you know better than a medical specialists giving an interview after looking after the patients and helping them recover. Think before you write.

Hopefully they will get well soon. I also want to express my concern about the racist attitude in Sri Lanka to make the brides white. You hardly recognize the beautiful natural woman because of this.. I know we white people like a suntan, but we don't want to change our race by suntan. So who is the racist here?

You're so right. Everyone in Sri Lanka and India wants to be white. So much so that the best selling cosmetic in the world is skin whitening cream and now injections to turn a sickening shade of pale white!
