Probe on violating health guidelines during New Year festival in Nuwara Eliya

Steps are being taken to hold a formal investigation into the violation of health guidelines and the instructions of the governor during the New Year festival held in Nuwara Eliya on Sunday (25).

The festival organized by the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council had been held with Mayor Chandana Lal Karunaratne as the chief guest.

Central Province Governor Lalith U Gamage said that he had ordered the provincial Commissioner of Local Government to hold an immediate investigation into the incident.

The governor said he had received information that the municipal employees attending to the duties in the festival had been served 175ml bottles of liquor with their lunch. (Ranjith Rajapakse)

as the goverment didn't want to score negative points, they let all celebrate New Year with parties, alcohol, 2 weeks power shopping before. Now after the result is visible with a rise in new cases, they want to fine and investigate the people. It is not new that the people don't care until the government force them.
