The All Ceylon Egg Producers' Association has decided to reduce the price of an egg by Rs. 2 with effect from Monday.
The decision was taken following a meeting between the officials of the Egg Producers Association and the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at Carlton House, Tangalle.
Accordingly, a white egg can be obtained from egg producers at Rs. 18.00 and a red egg at Rs. 18.50 from tomorrow.
Association Chairman R.M Sarath Ratnayake said that about 70 per cent of the country's total egg production is being distributed through the North-Western Egg Producers' Association.
He informed the Prime Minister that they would distribute eggs at reduced prices.

Yes with the prices of fish soaring so high and with a ban on slaughtering cattle - eggs will be the only main form of protein - so reconsider as Rs: 2.00 discount is not good enough.
