A special operation will be in place today to ascertain whether those who report for duty are engaged in essential services in Colombo are genuinely engaged in those duties, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said six police teams are deployed to conduct investigations based on information obtained at all entry points to the city.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that most of the vehicles that entered Colombo yesterday were belonging to financial institutions.
The number of such vehicles entered Colombo was 16,571.
Meanwhile, DIG Ajith Rohana said 886 people have been arrested for violating quarantine rules yesterday.
As such, 147 were arrested in Matale, 100 from Kuliyapitiya and 85 from Kandy. (DSB)

This is just an alibi for the increase in cases. The reason is because the factories are kept open and most cases reported are from factories and tea estates.
