Police fire tear gas at protesting port employees

Police fired tear gas and used water cannons to disperse protesting employees of the port’s Authority at Lotus Road in Colombo a short while ago, Police said.  

Meanwhile, heavy traffic congestion was reported at the Ceramic Junction and in Colombo Fort because of the protest.

The motorists were advised to avoid Colombo Fort and use alternative roads.
