Chinese Ambassador Cheng Xueyuan who called on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday extended an invitation for him to visit China at a mutually convenient and mature time, a spokesman said yesterday.
A spokesman for the Chinese Embassy said the delegation led by the ambassador, discussed bilateral co-operation.
He elaborated that the President was invited to visit China at a mutually convenient time. He recounted that the meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere.
“We want the new government of Sri Lanka to settle down first,” he explained.
The embassy delegation included Deputy Chief of Mission Hu Wei, Chief of Politics Lou Chong and Second Secretary Liang Zhijun.
President Rajapaksa will undertake his first overseas visit to India on November 29. (Kelum Bandara)
