Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said today he had returned the bullet-proof vehicle given to him by the government.
“I told the government that I can ensure my security without a bullet-proof vehicle,” he said and pointed out that he was not aware that it was a bullet proof vehicle.
“I am sure the God will protect me. If I am to be killed by someone, I am ready to face it as well,” the Cardinal said.
Venerable Omlpe Sobitha Thera who welcomed the decision made by the Cardinal, said the archbishop had set an example to all political leaders.
“Political leaders should focus on the safety of people instead of thinking of their own security,” he said. (Yohan Perera)

Dear Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, We salute you for your brave and humble action. This country need lot more people like you with integrity to safeguard the civilians. It is shame to have a narrow minded, stupid PM in this most needy situation.
