President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said the spread of COVID-19 is under control in general, and that immediate remedial steps have been taken following the sudden spike in recent positive cases, the President's Media Division said.

President Rajapaksa said this in response to a query by the Acting Ambassador and Chargé d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Colombo, Hu Wei, when he called on the President at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

The Acting Ambassador inquired on the progress of current COVID-19 prevention activities in Sri Lanka. President Rajapaksa said the spread of the virus is under control in general. While explaining the reasons for the sudden spike in infections during the last few days, he said remedial steps have been taken immediately. (Lahiru Pothmulla)

What are the remedial steps taken other than re-imposing curfew? It is easy to say but .....

We are yet to see any improvements in your governments approach, we don’t have enough test kits. How can you say it’s under control? You have a duty to reassure us citizens as our president.

Oh God! Where is God? The most God-fearing, God-loving nations Italy and Spain lost so many Catholics. Why God-the most merciful and omnipotent could not save them? Is Covid-19 more powerful?

Hi Sir, Donald Trump said similar words and said it will go away soon but how soon so many human lives were swept away in The USA will become history for future. No one can predict when God will really stop.

From the Bible, Galatians VI (King James Version): Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap Friday, 01 May 2020 08:33 AM

Mr Baron Baaron - we will leave god aside for the moment. There is a saying "As you sow so shall you reap'' - [From the Bible, Galatians VI (King James Version): Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap] - this being the case - all (individuals, countries ) should reflect on this and see where they have gone wrong (invading countries, oppressing one section of ones own people, phobias orchestrated on other religions) Eg for the latter is - now even France, Austria have to cover their faces ! - the very thing they legislated to harass a community , Sorry sir - you or me cannot understand how god works . We in sri Lanka have many skeletons in our cupboard,- better we repent on our mistakes - I need no mention them and not repeat them nor make more skeletons (pun intended) to haress some groups in various "unorthodox" ways.
